Adopting a new family member is a VERY serious commitment. Please do your research on training resources, and the breed or breeds (including exercise requirements and potential health issues) you are interested in before submitting an application. Discuss a potential adoption with any and all persons residing in the home. If you have an upcoming vacation or major life event planned in the near future that would prevent you from adopting, please wait until after the event to submit an application. We make a huge commitment to each and every dog we help, and we expect our adopters to do the same. Dogs can live up to 15 years, so you should anticipate a lifetime commitment. If you are not ready for that type of commitment, please wait to apply until you are.
The first step to adoption is to SUBMIT AN APPLICATION. Once we receive your application, we will reach out to you for an interview. Our goal is to place each dog with the perfect match, so please READ THE PERSONAL BIO for the dog you apply for prior to submitting an application. If your application is approved, we will set up a date for you to meet your potential new family member. Your patience is appreciated when waiting for a call back about your application.
The Adoption Donation for Puppies (Dogs under 1 year of age) is $500.00. Adult dogs (1 year or older) require a donation of $400.00. Purebreed dogs require a donation that varies based on medical treatment provided. If there is a dog you are interested in that this applies to, we will discuss that during your interview. Adoptable/Available dogs are current vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, and are deemed healthy by our vet. We also require a $200.00 refundable deposit for any dog that has not yet been altered to ensure that the dog is altered by the due date on your adoption contract. (It is very important to us that we help curb the population, and we are also required by law to verify that every dog we help is altered and cannot reproduce) Your donations help cover the many costs associated with rescuing a dog, which include but are not limited to healthy food, vaccinations, microchips, veterinary bills, cleaning supplies and disinfectant, beds, crates, flea and tick treatment, toys, transportation to and from the vet, as well as potty pads, bowls, leashes, collars and anything else a dog in our care might need. Donations made to Heer to Rescue, Inc. are tax deductible, what a great way to give!
All donations (Including adoption donations) go directly back into the general fund to continue to provide care for the dogs in our program. We are 100% volunteer run, so that means we have no employees, and all funding goes directly to the dogs! Just the way we like it! We know that your hard earned money is donated to help a dog in need, so that's exactly where it goes! We couldn't continue to help without your generous support!
** Our costs to rescue dogs including supplies and vet care services have been increased dramatically in the last month, so please be aware that we are doing our best to provide this care and all of the supplies they need while still keeping our adoption donations reasonable. On average it costs us about $650 to rescue a dog and this does not include any major surgeries or specialty vet care a dog might receive.
**Please Note: We are a very small team, so thank you in advance for your patience while we get through applications and emails**
